The Oilmen thrash the Generals for eight runs in one inning.07/17/2024 10:33 PM - The Northwest Indiana Oilmen routed the Griffith Generals 12-1 on Wednesday night due partly to an eight-run fifth inning.
The OIlmen opened the scoring in the first with a single that scored two runs from Aidan Thaxton.
An eight-run fifth inning from the Oilmen put the game out of reach for the Generals. The inning contained four RBI singles, an error and a slew of walks.
The Generals put their only run on the scoreboard when Cole Hockman grounded out, but scored Tripp Davis from third. The RBI extends Hockman's team lead to 16 RBIs on the season.
Colin McCarty opened the game for the Generals. McCarty surrendered three runs over four innings off four hits and five walks. McCarty struck out six Oilmen batters.
Brenden Smith started for the Oilmen and earned the win. Smith gave up two hits through four innings of work, striking out three.
Jaden Jackson, Ayden Elixson and Parker Brown each collected one hit on the game.
The Generals head to Elkhart on Friday for a 6 p.m. EST matchup with the Elkhart County Miracle.
