Joliet, Ill. – June 21, 2021 – The MCL recognized Generals righty Nick Vollmert (St. Ambrose / Crystal Lake, Ill.) with its Pitcher of the Week award for the week of June 13-20.

Vollmert earned MCL Pitcher of the Week laurels after garnering the victory on Friday against the MCL Minutemen. He tossed six shutout innings of one-hit ball, racking up nine strikeouts and issuing no walks. Vollmert’s season ERA is 0.82 and he has struck out 13 against just one walk in 11 innings while posting a 2-0 record in his two starts. The right-hander is the first General to win an MCL weekly award this season.

The MCL will continue to announce its weekly honors each Monday throughout the season.
