Generals' late push not enough against Corn Dogs06/19/2022 9:24 PM - Crown Point, In – June 19, 2022 – The Generals got hot late but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Corn Dogs on Sunday. They lost to them by a final of 11-7. After the Corn Dogs got off to a quick 4-0 lead, Joliet responded with a big four-run fourth inning and then took the lead with a run in the fifth. It was led by Michael Gould who had a big day with three hits, two of them going for extra bases. “I think finding the barrel to the ball, working counts and competing with two strikes was the big difference,” Manager Joe Silva said. Although the Corn Dogs were down for an inning they quickly came back, tying it in the sixth inning and having a huge five-run seventh inning to break it open. A struggle for the Generals today was walking batters as they gave out eight free passes. “There were some very close pitches, it’s a small adjustment and we just gotta continue to pound the corners,” Silva said. However, the Generals have six games coming up this week to get it going back in the right direction. The Generals’ next game is on Monday where they will take on the Crestwood Panthers at Marian Catholic High School. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. and the broadcast will be available on Facebook Live. |
