A battle of offensive barrages ends in favor of the Miracle

Griffith Generals's bats were strong against Elkhart County Miracle on Sunday, but it wasn't enough as Griffith Generals fell 16-9. Elkhart County Miracle collected 17 hits, while Griffith Generals had nine.
 
The bats were strong with both the Griffith Generals and the Elkhart County Miracle, but the offensive force of the Miracle pushed them in front 16-9. 
 
The game concluded a three-game weekend series between the two teams. 
 
The miracle had 17 hits, while the Generals only collected nine. However, the Miracle had six errors compared to the Generals' five.
 
Griffith jumped out to an early lead in the first after new addition Ayden Elixson singled, scoring two runs. The Generals added one more run in the inning.
 
The Miracle spun the game into their favor in the fifth, scoring five runs off three hits and taking a 6-3 lead. Mason Mayer drove in two runs in the inning.
 
The Generals were down but not out, in the seventh inning, a pair of singles and an error allowed the Generals to tie the game. 
 
The Miracle fought right back in the eighth, retaking the lead with five runs on five hits to take a 13-8 lead, Bryce Lesher doubled scoring two in the inning.
 
The Miracle scored three more in the ninth, while the Generals only mustered one.
 
Dilan Pinero earned the win for Elkhart County Miracle allowing five hits and four runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking seven.
 
Hunter Smith took the loss for Griffith Generals. The reliever went two innings, giving up five runs on five hits, and walking two. Cayden Gothrup stepped on the mound first for Griffith Generals. He gave up four hits and five runs over four and one-third innings, striking out six.
 
The Generals collected nine hits in the game. Cameron Buckley and Hockman each collected two hits for Griffith Generals. Isaiah Thompson, Hockman, and Devin Dizon each stole multiple bases for the Generals, who stole eight bases in the game.
 
Griffit falls to 1-4 on the season and will travel to Hammond to face the Vikings for their next game on Monday at 5 p.m. at Dowling Park.
