The Generals lose to the Oilmen for the second straight night06/15/2024 10:14 PM - The Griffith Generals could not keep up with the Northwest Indiana Oilmen for the second straight night after Saturday's 9-0 loss.
An error put the first run on the board for the Oilmen in the first inning, the first of six errors on the night for the Generals. The Generals have averaged 3.1 errors per game in their first 10 games this season.
The Oilmen added to their lead in the third inning after Isaiah White hit a sacrifice fly and Emmanuel Scott doubled, each scoring one run.
Cayden Gothrup opened the game for the Generals with a familiar battery mate Tripp Davis, who appeared for the first time in 2024 on Saturday. Gothrup surrendered 10 hits and seven runs and striking out four.
Quinn Flanagan started on the mound for the Oilmen and hurled eight innings not allowing a run off of five hits. Flanagan struck out three Generals.
Connor Jerkatis led the Generals at the plate with two hits.
The Generals pitching staff allowed 14 hits. Ryan Groberski went 4-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Generals fall to 3-10 on the year with a Sunday showdown with the Elkhart County Miracle at 2 p.m. eastern in Elkhart.
