A walk-off led the Griffith Generals on a somber drive back to Lake County, with an 11-0 loss to the Elkhart County Miracle on Sunday.

 

The Generals led 10-8 at the start of the ninth inning, but the Miracle tied it at 10 in the bottom half. Juan Pinuelus was the hero Sunday with a walk-off single that scored one run.

 

Each team had 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. The Miracle got on the board first with two singles in the second, Nathaniel Garcia's single scored one run. 

 

In the third, the Generals' offense started to fire on all cylinders, scoring seven runs on six hits to take a 7-2 lead. Tripp Davis doubled to score two. 

 

The Miracle added one run in the sixth, two each in the seventh and eighth and three more in the ninth. 

 

Hunter Smith started the game for the Generals, allowing three runs on three hits over five innings. Smith struck out two. Sam Russo was on the mound for the Miracle, surrendering 10 runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out six. 

 

Ayden Elixson led the Generals at the plate going 3-for-5. Davis had two doubles. Cole Hockman and Amir Wright each had two hits. The Generals drew six walks in the game, Yashion Boswell had two. 

 

The Generals fall to 3-8 on the year and have two off-days ahead before a matchup with the Hammond Vikings on Wednesday at Dowling Park.
