The Generals bounce back with an 8-1 win

Ayden Elixson's two extra-base hits and three RBIs led the Griffith Generals to an 8-1 win over the Hammond Vikings.
 
"Starting off hot is always good," said Elixson.

Elixson tripled in the third inning deep out to left-centerfield scoring one run, giving Griffith a 2-0 lead. 
 
The Generals scored five runs in the fourth inning, which put the Generals ahead 7-0. Elixson doubled to cap the inning off with two runs. 
 
Elixson said he was seeing, "a beachball" at the plate, "It was just easy, today was one of those days, it was just natural."
 
Colin McCarty made his first start of the season for the Generals. McCarty held the Vikings scoreless through four innings only allowing three hits on seven strikeouts. The Generals brought Adam Young out of the bullpen, in his last appearance against the Vikings Young gave up eight earned runs. However, Young and his defense shut down the Vikings for the next three innings. 
 
"He filled [the strikezone] up," said Generals manager Amir Wright, "it was a good stepping stone to have success against these guys who got him last time."
 
Peyton Fausto started on the mound for the Vikings, allowing seven runs on six hits over four innings of work. Fausto struck out three Generals batters. 
 
Elixson provided the most at the plate for the Generals going 2-for-four with three RBIs. Isaiah Thompson also had two hits Wednesday. Dylan Coty stole three bases for the Generals in his first appearance in 2024. 
 
The Generals improved their 2024 record to 4-8 and face the Northwest Indiana Oilmen in Whiting, IN, on Thursday and Friday. 
 
The Generals return to Brian Jennings Field on Sunday for a rematch with the Hammond Vikings.
