The Generals lose for the first time to the Panthers06/24/2024 10:13 PM - The Indiana Panthers' third and fourth innings lead them to their first win over the Griffith Generals in 2024.
The Panthers broke the 0-0 tie in the third inning after Luke Fassoth doubled, Dom Owen's grounded into a fielder's choice and Peyton Robinson singled, each scoring one run.
The Panthers added another three runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead. The Generals scored one run in the fifth and sixth innings on a sac fly and an error.
Cayden Gothrup started the game for the Generals, the lefty tossed six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out two.
Jaden Jones tossed seven innings for the Panthers, Jones allowed two runs on two hits while striking out seven.
Graham Gonzalez and Cameron Buckley each collected one hit for the Generals, and Angel Ramirez and Parker Brown each drove in one run. The Generals turned five double plays in the game.
"We just hit too many pitches into the ground," said Generals manager Amir Wright, "we took too many pitches from a pitcher who was trying to pitch to contact."
The Generals fall to 5-10 and face the Elkhart County Miracle on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Brian Jennings Field.
